Philippians: A Colony of Heaven

Acts 16 tells the story of Paul coming to plant a church in Philippi, a colony of Rome. Living under the impression of Roman culture and rule as a colony, Paul commissions the people to live out the gospel–finding joy in the middle of suffering as “a colony of heaven.”

Just as Paul encouraged the Philippians, we too are encouraged to live out the gospel. Working in and through the church as a community, formed in partnership around the gospel, in humility and unity.

The Philippians series focuses on nine themes: the gospel, the church, partnership around the gospel, humility, unity, the colony, following Jesus, suffering for the gospel, and joy.
