Kids
We believe kids are not the future of the church, but that kids are the church. We desire to partner with parents for the holistic formation of their kids, which is why we consider our kids gatherings as more than just childcare, but rather, as a community-based formation experience. Our classrooms are warm, safe, fun, and engaging for every kid in our gatherings. We provide different classroom experiences from infant to grade 5.
5 PM Gathering No Longer Offering Bridgetown Kids
On Sunday, September 11, we will no longer be offering Bridgetown Kids at the 5pm Downtown Gathering. In 2022, we reopened Bridgetown Kids at our Downtown gathering, starting with Ages 0-2. Prior to the pandemic, we had a thriving kids ministry downtown and we wanted to reopen space for any families who wanted to return. We started small and with intent to open additional classrooms as needed. Based on low attendance and our most recent annual family survey, it’s clear that there is no longer a significant need to offer kids ministry at the Downtown gathering. This frees up staff and volunteers to focus on continuing to develop the experience of families at our morning Eastside gatherings, and to focus our presence in Downtown Portland on prayer and justice. If this impacts your family and you have questions, please reach out to Joy directly.
Serve with Bridgetown Kids
If you call Bridgetown home, we need your help serving our Bridgetown Church families at the 9 AM and 11 AM gatherings. It takes a team of faithful volunteers to be able to host our kids. We need a team of trained classroom volunteers who can commit to being available for two gatherings a month.
Volunteers must be over 18 years of age and able to pass a background check. If you’re interested in being a part of the classroom experience for our Bridgetown Kids, register to serve.
Kids Check-In
To ensure a smooth check-in process, families are encouraged to add guardians and kids to Church Center before arriving. We have created a form that will automatically add your family to Church Center.
If you’ve already registered with Church Center via the app and need to make edits to your profile or have encountered issues with your profile at Sunday check-in, please email us.
Bridgetown Kids Curriculum
Bridgetown Kids is using the TRU curriculum from David C. Cook. If you’d like to explore the TRU curriculum, visit their website.
Take Home Resources from Tru
This fall we started sending home resources connected to our curriculum Tru. These printed resources, called At Home Weekly’s, will be available at pick-up each week for Pre-K, Grades, K-1, and Grades 2-5. The At Home Weekly will help parents prepare their child for the next week’s lesson at Bridgetown Kids. Each week includes a scripture reading, discussion questions, the current memory verse, and a review of the previous lesson. Please be sure to grab a copy from the classroom Host at pick-up each week.
